Roni Cohen-Pavon, the former chief revenue officer of the bankrupt cryptocurrency lending platform Celsius, has consented to forfeit more than $1 million to U.S. authorities prior to his sentencing hearing.

Court document related to the forfeiture

美国Attorney for the Southern District of New York Damian Williams stated that Cohen-Pavon will receive credit for any funds, in cash or cryptocurrency, he held on Celsius that are paid out through the platform's bankruptcy proceedings.

The U.S. Attorney's filing did not recommend a specific sentence but requested the judge consider a reduction for providing "substantial assistance" to authorities.

The collapse of Celsius in 2022 was a major event in the cryptocurrency industry, following the Terra ecosystem's downfall and preceding the bankruptcy of other large platforms like FTX.

In April, Cohen-Pavon's lawyers requested a sentence limited to time already served, citing his cooperation with the government and his role in Mashinsky's guilty plea. In a letter to Judge John Koeltl, Cohen-Pavon accepted full responsibility, stating, "I pleaded guilty because I am guilty. I participated in the manipulation of the CEL token."

In a related development, SDNY Judge Lewis Kaplan ordered on Thursday that $10 million in assets linked to former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried be applied to his forfeiture agreement.
